SUMMARY:Colonial Embroidery on July 14
DESCRIPTION:Colonial Embroidery on July 14. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn why embroidery was essential to domestic life and complete a personalized project to take home. \n\n\n\n\nEmbroidery in Colonial America was far more than a pastime—it was a crucial skill for young women to master. Practiced by girls of all wealth classes\, needlework was used to mend clothing\, mark linens with initials for identification\, and add beauty to homespun items. \nDiscover the skills that built a nation! This summer\, the Rogers Historical Museum invites young historians and creators to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by exploring the heritage crafts of Colonial America. The museum is thrilled to announce its “Summertime Fun at the Museum: Heritage Crafts” series\, offering free\, hands-on workshops that bring colonial-era skills to life. \nDesigned for children ages 6-12\, this four-session series combines engaging history lessons with interactive\, take-home crafts. Participants will explore the art of daily life in early America\, learning about the ingenuity and creativity required before modern technology. \nParents/guardians must accompany children at all times. Registration is required for children only. 45 minute sessions.
