You’re invited to the opening reception for Still, Life! Mourning, Meaning, Mending on Saturday, January 14th from 4-6pm.
Introductory remarks at 4:30 pm by 21c Chief Curator Alice Gray Stites will be followed by a special presentation by featured artist Portia Munson.
Join us to raise a glass to Portia Munson and the other 46 artists whose works will be on view, including Fayetteville-based Markeith Woods.
Still, Life! Mourning, Meaning, Mending explores how contemporary art offers solace and insight, meaning and purpose. The collective experience of time warping and wrinkling during recent periods of uncertainty and vulnerability is reflected in works that highlight and celebrate the notion of the glitch, suggesting new pathways to a future in which time itself might be understood and experienced in novel ways.
Featuring a diverse and acclaimed group of 47 artists from all over the world, the exhibition includes work by Portia Munson, Zak Ové, Dawoud Bey, Valerie Hegarty, Nate Lewis, Federico Solmi, Omar Victor Diop, Whitfield Lovell, Hamra Abbas, Cajsa von Zeipel, Markeith Woods and others.
