Event Details
On March 3, 2023, The Pryor Center will host a very special collaboration between the Music Education Initiative, Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation, Open Mouth Literary Centre, and Dhirana Academy of Classical Dance.
Matumaini: Expressions of Struggles and Freedom, is a celebration of the diversity of people and cultures who have resisted and overcome the shackles of slavery and servitude––in the Swahili language, “Matumaini” means HOPE.
Featuring a lively mix of poetry, American blues, and Indian Carnatic music, and accompanied by special dances created and performed by Vidushi Megha P. Rao, Matumaini: Expressions of Struggles and Freedom promises to be an evening of unique entertainment and profound inspiration.
Come join us for this very special event!
