About David:

David Lee Holcomb was born to military parents in Montgomery, Alabama, during the early years of the civil rights movement, and grew up in a small town in the Appalachian foothills. He spent his adult career working in the television news industry in Birmingham, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, and Dallas. In 2009, he moved to rural northwest Arkansas where he now writes, paints, teaches art, raises orchids, and plays the saxophone. Visit David’s blog for more about his writing, and go to Saatchi Art to see his artwork.

About “Lake Road, Last House”:

The new novel is called Lake Road, Last House. The book has a gay male narrator—a successful Washington DC political talking head—whose personal and professional lives collide in a very messy and public way. Overwhelmed, he runs away to his late grandfather’s ramshackle farmhouse in the middle of nowhere to lick his wounds, an environment in which he is very much out of his element. To keep sane, he focuses on a novel he is writing, a book in the style of Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler, featuring a detective whose investigation of a high-stakes fraud case threatens his secret relationship with another man. Themes drift back and forth between Jacob’s writing and his real life.

There’s also a cat, a childhood friend, a flood, women with bagels, intrusive documentary filmmakers, a right-wing demagogue, an eccentric carpenter, and some unfortunate incidents with raccoons.
