Fenix Arts Gallery curation of Women’s Work exhibition includes three pieces byJoy Noir Phillips in the series ”A Farmer’s Story”. Which will reside alongside many other works of art by talented female artists.

Joy Noir Phillips based this series upon the process of printmaking. Selected photograph of a farmer’s idea of vacation – fishing in Arkansas. A xerox copy with doodled “Catch of the Day” was utilized to transfer the image to linoleum. Then, a hand-carved and burnished print of photos, fish and Fords. Lastly, the pattern revisited and washed with ink and gouache for a colorful rainbow trout rendition.
Simple depictions of Arkansas and the farming community. A series of moments, frozen in time, meant to capture and highlight the importance of this faded Ozark heritage.
The opening exhibition will be at the Fenix Arts Gallery in Fayetteville on Friday, April 19 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Artist Talks will take place on Saturday, April 20. The exhibition will be on display through June 2, 2024.
