Come join us for a one-man show from Mountain Sam highlighting the stories and songs of Appalachia.
Mountain Sam Wheelock is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller. Growing up, he listened to the extended Carter Family play in an Aunt’s front yard. Mountain Sam’s mission, however, is to be respectful of that form, tipping his hat to Pioneers like Bill Monroe, and Stick and Brownie Mcghee, while being active in the evolution of regional music.
“A Story and a Song” is partially a love letter about life as a child in the mountains of eastern Tennessee, part modern electric folk music and part memoir. Mostly, it’s a heartfelt journey into the souls of a people.
