Would you like to join the bluegrass jam but find it too imitating to jump into the regular jam session?

This slow session is developed for you!
Professional and seasoned players from the Bluegrass Jam Session will teach how to play a few songs prior to each regularly scheduled jam (session). 
What will you learn: song structure, how to follow chord patterns, how to solo, and how the flow of a jam usually works.

This intimate event kicks off FreshGrass | Bentonville weekend, offering attendees a rare opportunity to experience world-premiere songs, behind-the-scenes stories from FreshGrass artists, and brand-new music by talented Northwest Arkansas musicians who participated in SongRider this season. Guests will also have the chance to win one-of-a-kind auction items such as signed guitars, musical getaways, and private performances. All proceeds benefit The House of Songs and its mission to connect artists across borders and inspire new collaborations.

For nearly four decades, Alison Krauss & Union Station have upheld their legacy as one of the most influential and widely celebrated acts in bluegrass and roots music.  Known for an immaculately crafted but endlessly surprising sound that transcends the boundaries of roots, country, rock & roll, and pop, Alison Krauss & Union Station are putting the finishing touches on a new album to be released in 2025 – their first album since the 2011 masterpiece Paper Airplane—a critically lauded, multiple Grammy Award winning LP that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Bluegrass, and Folk Album charts. Over the years, Alison Krauss & Union Station have brought their phenomenal live show to sold-out performances at famed venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The Greek Theatre, Radio City Music Hall, and London’s Royal Festival Hall, in addition to supporting Paul Simon in Hyde Park for his 2012 Graceland reunion. They now gear up for their first tour together since 2015. 

The players – Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead vocal), Jerry Douglas (Dobro, lap steel, vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, vocals), Barry Bales (bass, vocals), and welcoming highly acclaimed and celebrated tenor vocalist Russell Moore (guitar, mandolin, lead vocal) as the newest member – are five distinct personalities, each of whom enjoys a flourishing solo career. The Folk School of Fayetteville is hosting two days of musical fun on the front lawn of their historic building. On Saturday, May 17, browse a selection of instruments, gear, books and more during the lawn sale, and enjoy a teacher and student showcase. As part of the annual Strawberry Festival, Six Hours of Pickin’ and Grinnin’ returns on Sunday, May 18 from 2-8pm; bring an instrument and jam along.

Downtown Fayetteville Coalition’s Fayetteville Strawberry Festival is coming back to the historic downtown square for a second year on Saturday, May 17th 6-9pm and Sunday, May 18th Noon- 6:00pm

DFC is excited to announce two special additions to this year’s event. First, there will be a honky tonk street dance on Saturday night, May 17th, to kick off the weekend festivities. Attendees will be able to two-step to Tara and the Gift Horses and The Pink Stones on the historic downtown square from 6-9pm.

Second, a BERRY special guest, Murial Fahrion, the original creator and illustrator of the iconic Strawberry Shortcake franchise, will be onsite Sunday with Strawberry Shortcake memorabilia and merchandise for sale.

For Sunday’s main event, downtown Fayetteville will be bustling with things to see and do including two stages filled with music, games, and competitions. Enjoy performances on the main stage from Arkansauce, Copper Flats, and Ashtyn Barbaree. Join Caite and Karla as they head into the Garden with their sketchbooks. The two will be leading a drawing session intended to deepen awareness and appreciation for plants and to gain the many benefits of the drawing process. Beginners can start a new lifelong skill, while advanced artists can build on prior experiences.

All will benefit from the community of shared interests as we take to the Garden for some dedicated time with the plants. Sessions can be completely self-guided, or Caite and Karla will provide guidance, especially for those new to drawing. No prior skills are needed! Bring your sketchbook and drawing utensils! Sketchbooks, drawing tools, and chairs will be provided, or you may bring your own.

On the porch and the lawn of the historic Folk School of Fayetteville, local musicians will be pickin’ and grinnin’ and inviting the community to join in as part of Strawberry Festival.
