Frustum
by Alex Cogbill and Paul Siebenthal
Paul and Alex are interested in things that surround us in our daily lives, but are often too small, invisible to the human eye, or are hidden beneath the earth’s surface and go unnoticed.
Frustum is a study and abstraction of a naturally occurring geometric configuration found in stone and minerals. Its color palette is such that it reflects ideas of inclusion and childhood memories.
Alex Cogbill, owner of the Local Color Studio in Fayetteville offers rotating art exhibitions, kids art classes, seminars for adults ranging from welding to painting and is an accomplished 3D sculptor working in metal and wood. Alex has a BFA in Art Education from the University of Arkansas and has installed sculptures in many public spaces in the region and commissions for private citizens. Alex Cogbill assisted in designing with Jason Jones the “Rise and Shine” field trip – a giant robot in north Bentonville off of McNelly Road, along the greenway.
Paul Siebenthal is a metalsmith, blacksmith, artist, sculptor, fabricator, designer, and maker. He lives in Northwest Arkansas. Paul has an MFA in Sculpture from Notre Dame (2004) and a BFA in Metasmithing and Blacksmithing from SIU-C (2000). He has worked in Germany, the US, and Austria in blacksmith shops, in a museum making mounts for artwork, in an architecture firm making furniture and artwork, and has more than a decade of custom commission work. Paul has a full CV of solo and group exhibitions, as well as a number of public sculpture pieces, and artworks within museum collections.
Artists Alex Cogbill and Paul Siebenthal recently collaborated with Octavio Logo and other local artists on a mural at Railyard Park in downtown Rogers, Arkansas. The artwork is on one of three painted towers overlooking the park and features a covered area for events, a stage, a farmers market, water features, play areas, and orchards. They also recently completed a multidimensional sculpture titled “Arkansas Halite, Quartz, Bauxite” for the Greg Smith River Trail in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
This Outdoor Curation is on display and open to public Tuesday – Thursday through March 18.

The public is invited to the free opening reception for Leah Grant: Becoming Once More from 5-7 p.m. It is one of several events and activities taking place that evening at the center’s campus, as part of ASC’s Art Night on The Block.
The exhibition — ASC’s first of 2023 — is sponsored by Simmons Bank. Reception libations are sponsored by MK Distributors.
The Fayetteville-based artist combines techniques such as screenprinting, photography, cyanotype and collage. Grant’s work recontextualizes her experiences by revealing and concealing the vulnerable parts of her identity to create new ones through collaging and using images taken from a personal archive.
“I use self-reflection to explore the relationships I have with others to better understand the relationship I have with myself,” she explained in her artist statement. “My research seeks to provide counter-narratives around what it means to be a Black woman by accessing and exposing vulnerable components of my experiences.”
She continued, “I incorporate collage through print, photo, and video processes such as screenprinting, cyanotypes, laser engraving, photography, video, and audio techniques to assist with the parts of my identity I wish to reveal and conceal. This body of work allows me to exist in the multiple and serves as a reminder to be gentle with myself.”

Graduates of the OZ INC Cohort of Artists Makers (Cohorts 1, 2 3) showcase their trade goods during the event, which is free and open to the public from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The OZ INC Artist Makers Wholesale Market will take place on Tuesday, March 21st, at the Main Stage Creative Community Center in Eureka Springs, Ark. Regional artisans will showcase their trade goods during the event is free and open to the public from 3 p.m. to 7p.m.
The culmination of the Ozark Incubator (OZ INC) 10-week cohort headed by Main Street Eureka Springs, the wholesale market features artisans ready to work with retailers looking for unique items and bespoke crafts.
The Maker Wholesale Market is the brainchild of Jacqueline Wolven, Executive Director of Main Street Eureka Springs and business incubator, OZ INC. “Although our incubator’s market platform is on its first run, this is the retail community’s ground-floor opportunity to support our efforts to build a wholesale market,” Wolven said. “We need a wholesale market in Northwest Arkansas to drive a strong regional artisan trade-goods economy, and OZ INC is in place to deliver.”
“We encourage our retailers to make this investment in our local artists and makers. Show up. Share your expertise. Preview the wholesale opportunities that will now and in the future benefit your business. The ground floor is where the most important connections happen,” Wolven said, “we’re making those connections now.”
OZ INC draws artisans from throughout the region to participate in a cohort during a semester-long workshop. Working together to share experiences, artists, and makers build their enterprises, refine their wholesale market tactics, and support other artisans.
Graduates from each cohort are invited to participate in future wholesale markets, growing the diversity of artisan goods available to retailers in Northwest Arkansas.
Artists and makers who want to grow their business, develop a marketable product line, and sell wholesale can apply at https://www.mainstreeteurekasprings.org/ozark-incubator.
Sessions are held in a combination of in person and virtual allowing for ease in participation. The OZ INC Wholesale Market will be Tuesday 3-7PM at 65 N. Main Street in Eureka Springs.
Main Street Eureka Springs offers core programming for entrepreneur development and education, placemaking projects, economic development, historic cultural tourism, brand building, leadership development, and telling the district’s story to a broader audience. Main Street Eureka Springs is a fully accredited program through Main Street America & Main Street Arkansas. Visit https://www.mainstreeteurekasprings.org/ozark-incubator for more information.

Event Details
Hot Springs National Park was initially created by an act of the United States Congress on April 20, 1832, before the concept of a national park existed. The hot spring water has been popularly believed for centuries to possess medicinal properties and was a subject of legend among several Native American tribes. The city has been home to Major League Baseball spring training, illegal gambling, speakeasies during the Prohibition era, and gangsters such as Al Capone, horse racing at Oaklawn Park, the Army and Navy Hospital, and 42nd President Bill Clinton.
Artists will paint throughout the park and the public is invited to watch as they create. On Sunday, April 30th, artists will present their best pieces for judging, exhibit, and sale, open to the public at a location and time TBD.

Story Behind “Ozark Mountain Soul”
In 2017, Opal Agafia coined the term Ozark Mountain Soul to describe her unique style of music. Agafia embodies the sound of the Ozark Mountains: a little soul, a little roots, a little rock-and-rock, a little old-time swing- and lot of heart. Drawing from many genres, Opal blends the best elements of soul, blues, country, jazz, gospel, swing, and traditional mountain music into a sound that captures the past and boldy pushes ahead.
