Fall Into Acroyoga; Free Community Class and Jam

October 1 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Supported by the City of Fayetteville's Parks and Recreation Community Arts Programming Grant, local circus artist Dana Krementz will be offering a free, foundational, and community based acroyoga series at Gulley Park this Fall.

Acroyoga is a joyful fusion of yoga, gymnastics, and circus acrobatics. While this can sound intimidating; acroyoga is a play-based, recreational practice where people of all ages and abilities can come together to support each other in taking on new challenges! Taking place by the new pavilion at Gulley Park every Wednesday evening September 24th-October 15th, this accessible class series will focus on teaching the foundations of acroyoga by exploring stationary postures, counter balances, and short routines (or “flows”). Following each class there will be a "jam"; an unstructured but supervised and supported play time, where anyone can practice what was learned that day or try something new!

During each class, Dana will lead groups through a series of physical warm ups, creative group games, and communication exercises before facilitating participants in exploring new ways to connect to themselves and others; to creatively express themselves through yoga, dance, and partner acrobatics; and to practice open, kind, and direct communication with others.

In this class series, acroyoga won’t just be about teaching people “cool circus tricks”, it will be about increasing community member's capacity to connect and create with others in a more supported, authentic, and community based way.
