Film Screening | Unveiled: Daisy Bates & Johnny Cash

July 20 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

“Unveiled: Daisy Bates and Johnny Cash” – an original documentary from Arkansas PBS and award-winning filmmaker Nathan Willis–chronicles the journey of two new statues representing Arkansas in the U.S. Capitol’s National Statuary Hall. Directed by Nathan Willis, the film delves into the lives and legacies of civil rights activist Daisy Bates and music legend Johnny Cash, highlighting the meticulous process of selecting, designing, and installing their statues. Through interviews with artists Kevin Kresse and Benjamin Victor, as well as behind-the-scenes footage, the film offers insight into how these iconic figures were immortalized in bronze.

Don’t miss an unforgettable post-film conversation featuring Shane Broadway, chairman of the National Statuary Hall Steering Committee, along with Unveiled director Nathan Willis, sculptor Kevin Kresse, and Arkansas PBS interim executive director Sajni Kumpuris. Together, they’ll explore the making of the documentary, the artistic process behind the statues, and the cultural significance of honoring Arkansas legends in the U.S. Capitol.

Free, tickets required. Reserve your spot online or by calling Guest Services at (479) 657-2335 today.
