Like many bluegrass bands Greenland Station grew out of a jam session. High school friends Pam Baldridge on bass and vocals and Matt Tomlinson on lead guitar and vocals along with Pam’s husband Gary on rhythm guitar and vocals got together a few times and decided we should make it a regular thing.
After the typical growing pains of all new bands there were personal ups and downs. On a whim Matt called an old friend and picking buddy Sam Coffey to see if he would be interested in joining the group on banjo. Busy as he was he jumped at the chance. On Sam’s suggestion we sat down with one of his old (young) mandolin students, Isaac McCutcheon.
It was a great suggestion and Isaac was a perfect fit not only on mandolin but a great voice. We’ve had the honor of having other players join us in the past but the core group has remained in tact and we love what we do together!--Pam, Gary, Isaac, Sam and Matt--Greenland Station Bluegrass
