Want Feedback on Your Writing?

You’re invited to submit up to 5 pages of writing for critique as part of our Social Hour connection event. If you share your work, you’ll be asked to critique 3 other submissions. This helps ensure that everyone receives thoughtful and balanced feedback.

How to Submit: 1) Make a copy of your work (maximum 5 pages, double-spaced). 2) Rename the file using this format: YourName_Genre (for example: JordanLee_Poetry). 3) Upload your file to this shared Google folder: Social Hour: Writers Night @ Casa Magnolia Attendee Work Samples. Optional: Add a one-sentence logline or brief description at the top of your document.

Critique Guidelines: If you submit work, you’ll receive three pieces to review by Wednesday, July 23 (we’ll assign them based on genre whenever possible). Feedback will be shared virtually using comments and “Suggested Edits” in the shared Google Docs. When giving feedback, there are just two rules: be honest and be kind.

Optional In-Person Critique Session: Writers Night will host an in-person critique session at Casa Magnolia on Wednesday, July 23, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to discuss your work with others and connect in real time. If you prefer (or need) to give and receive feedback virtually, that’s absolutely okay.
