“Forgotten Fayetteville” is devoted to retrieving ignored, lost, or forgotten history – mostly in Fayetteville but out in the county, too. 18 stories that have drifted out of our communal awareness.
Industrious local historian and award-winning author J. B. Hogan has done it again. His meticulous painstaking endeavors to preserve the local history has produced his latest creation, “Forgotten Fayetteville.” His work, “Forgotten Fayetteville” is devoted to retrieving ignored, lost, or forgotten history – mostly in Fayetteville but out in the county, too. There are 18 histories of this type here, including family histories, crime stories, and important people and places that may have drifted out of our communal awareness.
Join us at 2:00 pm September 2nd in the Willard and Pat Walker community room to hear about Mr. Hogan’s newest work. After the talk the author will answer questions and have some of his various books for purchase and signing.

J. B. Hogan is an award-winning author with over 270 stories and poems and ten books published. He has a Ph.D. in English Literature, worked for many years as a technical writer, and has researched and written extensively on local history. His book Angels in the Ozarks is a history of 1930s professional baseball in the area. He co-authored An Illustrated History of the Fayetteville Square with noted local historian Anthony J. Wappel. His own book of local history articles, Forgotten Fayetteville, is schedule to be published by Oghma Creative Design in October 2021. In October 2019, he received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Washington County Historical Society and in June 2021 received the Tom Dillard Advocacy Award from the Arkansas Historical Association.
