Guest Artist: Drei Bones Trio

Timothy Howe (University of Missouri), Michael Davidson (University of Kansas), and J. Mark Thompson (Northwestern State University of Louisiana) play all the “bones” in Drei Bones. The International Trombone Association Journal has called the Drei Bones “an absolute treat to hear, presenting a fantastic idea of not only what the trombone trio is capable of, but also how it should ideally sound.” After many years of playing in different orchestras together, they formed Drei Bones in 2015 and have since been featured at the American Trombone Workshop, the Big Twelve Trombone Conference, the Midwest Trombone Euphonium Conference, and the International Trombone Festival. Their debut CD, Drei Bones, was released in 2016, followed by Of Hammered Gold in 2018, both on the Emeritus label. They have been champions of trombone trio literature and have commissioned, recorded, and premiered numerous new works for trombone trio.
