Event Details
MEZCLAVE features the rhythms of Afro-Caribbean salsa music with jazz harmonies and improvisations to create a Latin Jazz hybrid style that makes you want to dance! Lead by bassist and veteran musician and producer Edwin Canito Garcia, the group combines the rhythms of Afro-Caribbean salsa music with jazz harmonies and improvisations to produce the Latin Jazz hybrid style. The Tulsa-based ensemble gets the name “Mezclave” from “mezcla,” which is Spanish for “mixture,” and “clave,” the Afro-Caribbean term for the rhythm of salsa music. It’s what Garcia refers to as the “corazon,” or heart of the music.
Enjoy live music at Turnbow Park in the Downtown Outdoor Dining District. Last Thursdays of the month beginning in April through September. Concerts start at 6:30PM.
