This is an all levels drop-in adult class guided by butoh artist Lela Besom. It is for anyone interested in deep connection to body, imagery, and internal world discovery. In this class you will explore creativity through movement and imagination while connecting with community. Learn foundational exercises for creative movement practices as well as butoh techniques.
Butoh is an art form created by Tatsumi Hijakata and Kazou Ohno in Japan following WWII. It is a deeply mindful expansive dive into internal and external mystery utilizing the imagination and micro connection to movement and the space between. Butoh provides an altered experience with time and ranges the spectrum of energy and emotion. This class includes elements that vary with the artists discretion and creative process along with consistent movement and mindfulness practices for deep relaxation.
