Mission

Empowering students through an intensive arts and academic curriculum that prepares them for higher education, creative careers, and to become future leaders in the performing and visual arts industries.

About

ICA is a tuition-free public charter high school and open to all students.

At ICA, we unite a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum with exceptional pre-professional arts training. Our programs span dance, film, music, theatre, creative writing, culinary arts, and visual art, offering students the opportunity to explore their passions while preparing for future success.

Students spend half of their school day immersed in specialized arts instruction and the other half in challenging academic courses. Guided by professional artist-teachers, they receive personalized training, coaching, and mentorship designed to help them excel at the next level—whether in higher education or the professional arts industry.

Beyond artistic excellence, ICA students develop essential life skills such as discipline, teamwork, communication, and time management, all within a supportive, creative, and safe environment.

The results speak for themselves: ICA cultivates students who love coming to school, achieve academically, and graduate fully prepared for their futures. Many go on to careers in Broadway, television, film, dance, and visual arts, while others excel as doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and leaders in a variety of fields.

This is more than just a school—it’s a place where talent is nurtured, dreams take shape, and futures are built. Join us and experience the most inspiring high school journey imaginable.

The Institute, sponsored by Community School of the Arts, will be housed in the new Center for the Creative Arts facility on a beautiful 10-acre campus located at 1101 Riverfront Drive in Fort Smith. The state-of-the-art Center includes music rehearsal halls, recording studio, digital media labs, film room, culinary space, dance studios, classroom spaces, a Blackbox theatre, and a 350-seat performance theatre.

The Institute for the Creative Arts welcomes all students entering grades 9–12 who are ready to challenge themselves academically and artistically.

Classes run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, giving students a full day of immersive learning—half devoted to academics and half to the arts.
