When his own sense of humanity runs up against his stated political platform, the stakes couldn’t be higher: is compromising his sense of identity worth the potential benefits? Event Details
Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation (Ra-Ve) is well-known across the arts landscape of Northwest Arkansas for providing classes, training, and musical events for all who are interested in the music and dance tradition of classical India. The Master Concert series is the ultimate expression of that vision. Join us as we celebrate these ancient, lustrous—and highly entertaining—arts!
On October 6th, Ra-Ve sponsors something truly special—100 Strings! 100 strings on just two instruments, that is: the Saraswathi veena and the santoor. The Saraswathi veena has seven strings and the santoor, uniquely prepared for this tour, has 93—add them all together and you have 100 strings of pure musical enchantment!
The tour brings something extra and very special when it comes to Bentonville: for this performance only, Vittal Ramamoorthy, one of the leading violinists of the Carnatic stage and a great supporter of Ra-Ve since our beginning in 2018, joins the onstage brilliance! Nirmala Rajasekar, the star Saraswathi veena player on the tour, felt that it was important to include Vittal to honor him and his work on behalf of Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation. So for this event, and this event only, 100 Strings showcases the full range of stringed instrumentation—plucked, hammered, and bowed…a musical windfall that will not be offered anywhere else.
We invite you to join us, the masters of the Saraswathi veena, the santoor, the violin, the mridangam, and the tabla, for 100 Strings (or should it be 104?), a beautiful and truly unique musical experience!
Food boxes for this event are available for purchase. Visit the Store on this campaign to order.

An art-infused series of Friday evening “compact creativity festivals” that will take place in the Lower Ramble. Kick off the weekend with a burst of creativity and fun! The WEST series is being held in conjunction with the University of Arkansas Department of Music.
Music performers will celebrate the musical diversity found at the university. Concerts will feature jazz trios, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music, Ozark ballads, classical ensembles, rock songs, medieval music and more!
Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere where they can unwind after a busy work week, enjoy strolling through the beautiful natural area and engage with their local arts community.
Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the performances and stay awhile. Arriving via the Razorback Greenway is encouraged, but parking is available at the Fayetteville Public Library’s south surface parking lot, as well as on-street parking along West Ave.

Event Details
ABOUT:
Long hair, tobacco, over-sized glasses and a trucker hat, Dusty Slay is the self-effacing bourbon-voiced Southern comedian next door with a knack for observational, blue-collar humor and the nerve to say what everyone else is thinking. He grew up the son of a single mom in an Alabama trailer park and evokes laughs about everything from Cracker Barrel to his aversion to soap. The 40-year-old Nashville native is a mainstay on the country music scene, making his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2019 – the youngest at the time, and adding dozens of appearances in the historic Circle ever since. He has also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live, has a Comedy Central special to his credit and just released his first hour-long Netflix special “Workin’ Man” that he filmed about three hours from home, at the Bijou theater in Knoxville, Tennessee. With almost 20 years of eliciting guffaws through his laidback observations, comedic cadence and conversational style, Dusty is just getting started bringing his brand of relatable working-class comedy to audiences coast to coast. Slay recently announced his 35-show “The Night Shift Tour” in support of the new special.
