Event Details

You’re invited to put on your dancing shoes and learn some easy and fun social dances from the 1800s!

Instructor Judy Costello and a group of volunteers will be teaching this class in costume. They will demonstrate each dance and then teach it to the group. The list of dances they will work from include the Virginia Reel, Gay Gordon, Gothic dance, Soldiers Joy and Jefferson Water Reel.

Judy Costello has been the Education Manager at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History for over 10 years, which was preceded by her work as the Director of Historic Programs at the Washington County Historical Society. After learning the art of 19th century social dance, Judy has taught it to many students. Several of these students now teach the dances to others, both at their jobs and as volunteers.
