Event Details

Join artist Amelia Briggs for a discussion of her work and her new installation, Pony Gate, at the Famous Hardware Store in Downtown Springdale. Following the lecture, walk to the Famous Hardware Store with us for a sidewalk reception in celebration of the installation.
Pony Gate acts as a series of dioramas. Driven by questions about the link between our sense of self and our childhoods, artist Amelia Briggs breaks down and pieces together toys, games, and objects from her youth. Acting as relics, each object is personal and universal, inviting us to question our individual experiences and how they have shaped us into the people we are today.
About the Artist:
Amelia Briggs is a multidisciplinary artist based in Nashville, TN. Her work has been exhibited internationally and throughout the United States including exhibitions in Paris, France; Florence, Italy; and London, UK. Composed of sewn, reclaimed fabrics, fiber, oil and latex, Briggs constructs objects and images that operate as whimsical characters from an unknown animated universe. Pony Gate, her installation for the Famous Hardware Store, acts as a series of dioramas. Each of the store’s windows illuminate the link between our sense of self and our childhoods.
Famous Hardware installations are commissioned CACHE with funding from the Tyson Family Foundation.
