As a culmination of her experiences in Central and Southern Europe with various artist collectives Heidee Alsdorf offers Collective Performance & Play, a dance-theatre workshop designed to raise questions about boundaries and binaries existing in conventional theatre and dance spaces. This workshop is appropriate for a variety of adult individuals from student performers, to performing professional, and curious individuals with no prior experience. The workshop engages participants in a shared commitment to listen, and take care of each other, ourselves, and our shared space while facilitating individual and group expressions thru work with body and voice. We will explore contemporary performance skills such as spacial shaping and relationship, timing, rhythm, and repetition, as well as simple somatic tools for centering, grounding, and listening. With these tools, we play a game in which our creative decision making processes are the playground. Proceeds go to the support of the artist’s residency at Creative Spaces NWA.
