Creative Exchange Fund: Markeith Woods Open Studio

THE WORK (Taken from Project Description and Timeline fields of Grant Application): A painting of my son looking into the sunset on the balcony as a homeowner and me. My plan for my residency is to work on one large piece, which will be 7×13 depicting my definition of progress. Also, the pose and collage elements would reflect on the many sacrifices/experiences I’ve had to get there. I plan to engage the community by connecting with Sara Segerlin, the Director of Community Engagement at Crystal Bridges and MyTByDesign, to collaborate. I’ve built a relationship with them from working on other projects together in the past. The public workshop I would lead would be a painting and sip experience for adults and juice for children. I would show three different types of images people would create, or if they wanted to be creative, I would encourage them to make whatever they wanted.
