Event Details

You’re invited to join Art Ventures on Thursday, February 10 between 5 pm and 8:30 pm for our February First Thursday Reception, and the opening public reception to our Frame of Mind: Critical Black Theory. This event will be held at our gallery on 20 S. Hill Ave, Fayetteville AR, 72701.

Frame of Mind: Critical Black Theory in Art features varied artistic approaches to creative expression by Black artists. It serves to remind viewers that systems of repression and hate reflect on themselves and must be dismantled for the sake of humanity. This exhibition is a treatise on the multifaceted and resilient spirit of the marginalized, their passionate expression of pain, conflict, and of joy.

Frame of Mind will feature work from Candace Dolls, Charles Krampah, Delita Martin, DeShun Peoples, Donavon Brutus, Eric Andre, Joelle Storet, Markeith Woods, Morgan Bame, Najee Dorsey, Oluwatobi Adewumi, Tay Butler, and Vincent Frimpong. Additionally, Frame of Mind will feature work from Art Ventures’ very own Board President, Sharon Killian, who was recently awarded the inaugural Creative Impact Award by Artist 360 for her enduring and invaluable work in the NWA community.

This First Thursday event is free and open to the public! Beverages and refreshments will be provided by Art Ventures, with donations from Ozark Beer Company and Fossil Cove. Come join us and bring a friend or two!

Parking is limited at the gallery, so we will have a shuttle provided by Jim’s Express that stops at the corner of Church St and Center St every 15 minutes. You can park on the Fayetteville Downtown Square, and ride the shuttle to the show between 5 pm to 8 pm.
