Event Details

On Saturday, March 16th, from 9 am to noon, Guy Ames of Ames Orchard and Nursery will lead a presentation and demonstration on grafting fruit trees. Specifically, he will show how to graft onto Bradford Pears, an invasive tree, but a tree that serves as an excellent rootstock for desirable fruiting pears. This is a chance to turn a pest on your property or marginal public land into a fruiting pear tree! Guy Ames will also be available to answer any orchard tree questions such as pruning, pest management, or best locally adapted fruit trees. This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in working with fruit trees.

Workshop attendees will go home with their own scionwood (grafting wood) from the Apple Seeds orchard. However, to graft at home, you will need to purchase a grafting knife and budding tape. We can provide the links to buy the supplies.

While the workshop is free, registration is required as attendance is capped to provide an quality experience for attendees.
