Introduction to the Hammered Dulcimer.
Lisa Ferguson, expert Hammered Dulcimer Player, will cover the basics about the hammered dulcimer: how it’s laid out, how to hold the hammers, and how to play a scale. Lisa will give a short overview about tunings, and show us how to play a simple tune. Lisa has many suggestions for available references, both via books and online. We are excited for Lisa to share her knowledge of this beautiful instrument, and hopefully spark interest for a Dulcimer Group/Club!
There are three hammered dulcimers at the Folk School for use, and Lisa plans on bringing a couple she owns. We will be hands-on at this workshop — get ready to learn & play!
