and art may be intertwined through ceramics, textile artwork, jewelry making,
traditional painting, and other mediums.

You’re invited to our
First Thursday event and the opening public reception to Threads of Identity
on Thursday, July 7 between 5 pm and 8:30 pm. This event will be held at our
gallery on 20 S. Hill Ave, Fayetteville AR, 72701. As always, this reception
will be free and open to the public! Beverages and refreshments are provided by
Art Ventures, with donations from Ozark Beer Company and Fossil Cove. Parking
is limited so we encourage attendees to use our shuttle that runs every 15
minutes from the bus stop at Church and Center to the Art Ventures Gallery
during this event. During the reception, guests will be treated to live
performances by guitarist Nate Smerage and drummer and fashion model Kaye Jolie
Onuris.

From continent to
continent, fashion has always played a significant role in how we express our
identity and sense of belonging. Art and fashion have continually overlapped
and influenced one another, creating an intersection of possibilities for
expression through clothing, make-up, jewelry, and everything that comprises
someone’s individual style. Far from a purely aesthetic expression, fashion and
style provides a forum for us to honor and play with the threads of our
identity, such as culture, gender, religion, and other essential qualities. We
welcome you to join us in following these threads that lead to a complex
tapestry of who we are, where we come from, and how we understand the world
around us.

Threads of Identity
features work in a variety of mediums by Cheri Bohn, Rani Bondhus, Japheth
Asiedu-Kwarteng, Shelby Fleming, Adam Fulwiler, Cheryl Kellar, Mack Leal,
Leslie Perryman, Denise Sagan, Kathleen Schwarz, and Gala Reneaum Tello.
