Tram Colwin’s “What We Carry” will be on view August 9 - 31, 2024

Springdale, AR – The Medium announces  What We Carry, an art exhibition by artist Tram Colwin, opening on August 9, 2024. This exhibition tells the stories of displaced individuals from ten countries and their journeys to Northwest Arkansas, showcasing the items they carried along the way.

“With over 110 million displaced persons around the world, immigrant and refugee stories are needed now more than ever,” said Tram Colwin, a fellow immigrant and What We Carry artist. I’m so honored and humbled to be entrusted to share the stories of a few members of our local immigrant and refugee community. I’m eager to see how NWA will receive them.”

An opening reception will be held at The Medium on Friday, August 9, from 6 to 8 pm, with a Q & A session at 7 pm.  What We Carry embodies everything we celebrate here at The Medium," says Amber Perrodin, Artist & Community Manager. "Given Springdale's rich culture of minority, refugee, and immigrant communities, there’s no better place to launch this series.”  The exhibition will also be displayed at 8th Street Market in Bentonville in September and the Fayetteville Public Library beginning in October.

What We Carry is supported by Artists 360, a program of the Mid-America Arts Alliance, and made possible through philanthropic support from the Walton Family Foundation,  contributions from Narrative Network, Louis and Ashlie Page, and other private donors.
