"For this project, I intend to, for the first time ever, write songs with a specific idea in mind, songs consciously motivated by the Ozarks. I’m a fifth generation Ozarker, who has been gone for far too long. I had been horribly homesick, so quit my day job, and recently returned to my homeland. I am temporarily living with a friend while actively looking for a house within an hour of XNA. My previous original songs are based on my lived experiences as a woman raised and residing in rural America, though not in the Ozarks. As well, I am a mature woman concentrating on my writing at a more advanced age. In our current culture in the US, women’s stories are marginalized. And older women are invisible. As a crone, I believe I finally have enough life experience to write from a more wise perspective, which makes my songs richer and more complex. And I have things to say!"
