Kick off spring break and a week of creative fun with a
community fiesta celebrating art, stories, and the opening of our new
exhibition Diego
Rivera’s America! Come enjoy live music and performances by local
artists, flex your creative muscles with artmaking in the studios, or learn
about works by Latinx artists with gallery talks and tours. You’ll get the
chance to meet local artists, teachers, and art students as they create
large-scale paintings live before your eyes—works that will then head out into
nearby communities as public art displays.

Event Details
Hot Springs National Park was initially created by an act of the United States Congress on April 20, 1832, before the concept of a national park existed. The hot spring water has been popularly believed for centuries to possess medicinal properties and was a subject of legend among several Native American tribes. The city has been home to Major League Baseball spring training, illegal gambling, speakeasies during the Prohibition era, and gangsters such as Al Capone, horse racing at Oaklawn Park, the Army and Navy Hospital, and 42nd President Bill Clinton.
Artists will paint throughout the park and the public is invited to watch as they create. On Sunday, April 30th, artists will present their best pieces for judging, exhibit, and sale, open to the public at a location and time TBD.

Remember: Tickets to OMSF include full access to the shower house. Kids 12 and under are free!
Story Behind “Ozark Mountain Soul”
In 2017, Opal Agafia coined the term Ozark Mountain Soul to describe her unique style of music. Agafia embodies the sound of the Ozark Mountains: a little soul, a little roots, a little rock-and-rock, a little old-time swing- and lot of heart. Drawing from many genres, Opal blends the best elements of soul, blues, country, jazz, gospel, swing, and traditional mountain music into a sound that captures the past and boldy pushes ahead.
