The Lens to the Soul: The Photography of Andrew Kilgore

The library will screen Dan Robinson's documentary "A Lens to the Soul: The Photography of Andrew Kilgore," followed by a Q&A session.

Fayetteville-based photographer Andrew Kilgore created personal portraits of members of society who were often overlooked. His advocacy photography connects the viewer to the subject, paving the way for a better understanding of their circumstances and need to be recognized. The Q&A session following the film will be moderated by FPL's Director of Communications, Randy Wilburn.

ABOUT ANDREW KILGORE

Kilgore started taking pictures in 1968, and opened his first studio in Fayetteville in 1971. Throughout the 1970s he taught photography in the art department at the University of Arkansas, before moving to Little Rock in 1981, where he worked on larger photography exhibits and projects.  In 1986, as part of Arkansas’ sesquicentennial celebration, Andrew spent the year taking photographs of all the different people who live and work throughout Arkansas, which became the book Arkansas People. In 1990 Kilgore returned to Fayetteville, making it his permanent home.
