About
Arkansas Cinema Society was founded in August 2017 with the goal of bringing filmmakers and films to the state and building connections among creators and audiences. The founders structured ACS with the understanding that filmmaking requires collaboration among many artists and professionals, and that cultivating a strong local film community could raise the profile of filmmaking in Arkansas.
Since its founding, ACS has hosted a variety of programs including film screenings, festivals, educational workshops, networking events, and filmmaker forums. A key annual event is Filmland: Arkansas — a multi‑day curated film festival spotlighting both local and visiting talents. Over the years, Filmland has showcased films soon after premieres at major film festivals, and has attracted acclaimed filmmakers, directors, producers, and actors for screenings, Q&A sessions, and panels.
ACS also works statewide (not just in one city): it supports theaters, festivals, young filmmakers, and film‑making initiatives across Arkansas to create a broad network. The organization encourages participation from anyone interested in film — whether as audience, volunteer, student, or creator — with the aim of making film arts more accessible and sustainable in Arkansas.
