About

Bella Vista Community Concert Band celebrated its 30th year in 2015. It all began in 1985 with the enthusiasm of several people playing in various groups in Bentonville and Bella Vista. According to M.D. (Mac) McKenney in his history dated July 1994, the group started at Bentonville High School with co-directors Mike Brown and Denny Kelliher. The band has been at home in many venues including Metfield, Riordan Hall, Becker Hall United Methodist Church, Bella Vista Country Club, and Blowing Springs Park.

President Bob Frankenfeld suggested Blowing Springs Park as it’s concert home in 2004. The stage was built, chairs and 2 tables purchased and it is still the home for concerts from May thru September. Metfield Grill and now Sunrise Rotary have provided a picnic supper at a nominal fee. Several times the concert has had to be moved because of flooding from the creek or canceled because of hot weather.

Directors have been Mike Brown, Denny Kelliher, George Alter, Jared Aragon in 2014, Randall Cavanah and Jim Swiggart. Band Historian, Bobby Power has assembled a history of the band, including photos, newspaper clippings and recent history.
