Mission

Ozark Mountain Irish Arts Council (often abbreviated OMIAC) is a nonprofit organization in Northwest Arkansas focused on supporting Irish culture and the arts, particularly through Irish dance and related cultural events. It is closely tied to the Rince Arkansas Academy of Irish Dance and is run by parents and community members who volunteer to advance Irish arts in the region.

About

The council’s goal is to support Irish culture and arts—especially Irish dance—in Northwest Arkansas.

It supports events and fundraisers such as ceilidhs (Irish social dance gatherings) and Irish dance feiseanna (competitions) in partnership with the Rince Arkansas Academy of Irish Dance.

The organization’s volunteer leadership has included positions like President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and coordinators for fundraising and performances.

OMIAC helps promote Irish cultural events in the region, which can include:

  • Traditional Irish dance performances
  • Ceili nights and community gatherings
  • Support for local dancers to attend events beyond Arkansas
  • Collaborative cultural festivals in the Ozarks

The council is organized by parents and volunteers connected to Irish dance programs, rather than being a large arts institution with full-time staff. Its efforts are community-driven and focused on enriching cultural life in Northwest Arkansas through Irish heritage and arts.
