Mission
The Sound Collaborative—a 501c3 nonprofit—will be a community-funded space for music makers of all genres & skill levels to play, record, rehearse & collaborate together.
The Sound Collaborative aims to support local musicians of all genres and skill levels by providing affordable space and opportunities to play, rehearse, record, and collaborate.
The organization’s mission is to promote collaboration and musical diversity across the Northwest Arkansas (NWA) music community. It works to break down barriers that many musicians face—like lack of rehearsal space, expensive recording studios, and difficulty connecting with other artists—by creating a shared, supportive environment for music creation and community building.
About
The Sound Collaborative aims to support local musicians of all genres and skill levels by providing affordable space and opportunities to play, rehearse, record, and collaborate.
The idea came from Adrian Rodriguez, a Northwest Arkansas native and longtime musician, who saw firsthand the challenges local musicians encounter. He and co-founder Cherri Rodriguez surveyed local musicians in early 2022 to understand their needs for collaboration and creative space.
The Sound Collaborative received its official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status on Christmas Eve 2022 and is launching its full operations.
The Sound Collaborative is intended to provide:
- Play & Jam Spaces: Casual areas where musicians can connect and play together.
- Rehearsal Facilities: Dedicated rooms where bands can rehearse without noisy garages or high-cost studio fees.
- Recording & Podcast Support: Equipment and training to help members record music or audio projects affordably.
- Collaborative Community: A hub for musicians to meet, exchange ideas, and build creative projects together.
The Sound Collaborative plans to operate on a cost-sharing membership model, where each collaborator pays a modest fee to help support the organization’s space and services. Scholarships are also planned to help young or financially limited musicians participate.
