About

The School of Art is one of the newest and most ambitious arts schools in the country.

Key Milestones
2017 – School of Art Established
Founded through a historic $120 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation, the largest ever given to a U.S. art school at the time. The gift allowed the university to transform its long-standing Department of Art into a comprehensive School of Art with national-level programs, facilities, and research opportunities.

Major expansions followed:

  • Windgate Art & Design District in Fayetteville
  • State-of-the-art studios, fabrication labs, galleries, and classrooms
  • Dedicated centers for art education, art history, and interdisciplinary work

  • A nationally competitive arts institution
  • A powerhouse in studio art, design, art history, and art education
