“Frustum”
by Alex Cogbill and Paul Siebenthal
Paul and Alex are interested in things that surround us in our daily lives, but are often too small, invisible to the human eye, or are hidden beneath the earth’s surface and go unnoticed.
Frustum is a study and abstraction of a naturally occurring geometric configuration found in stone and minerals. Its color palette is such that it reflects ideas of inclusion and childhood memories.
Alex Cogbill, owner of the Local Color Studio in Fayetteville offers rotating art exhibitions, kids art classes, seminars for adults ranging from welding to painting and is an accomplished 3D sculptor working in metal and wood. Alex has a BFA in Art Education from the University of Arkansas and has installed sculptures in many public spaces in the region and commissions for private citizens. Alex Cogbill assisted in designing with Jason Jones the “Rise and Shine” field trip – a giant robot in north Bentonville off of McNelly Road, along the greenway.
Paul Siebenthal is a metalsmith, blacksmith, artist, sculptor, fabricator, designer, and maker. He lives in Northwest Arkansas. Paul has an MFA in Sculpture from Notre Dame (2004) and a BFA in Metasmithing and Blacksmithing from SIU-C (2000). He has worked in Germany, the US, and Austria in blacksmith shops, in a museum making mounts for artwork, in an architecture firm making furniture and artwork, and has more than a decade of custom commission work. Paul has a full CV of solo and group exhibitions, as well as a number of public sculpture pieces, and artworks within museum collections.
Artists Alex Cogbill and Paul Siebenthal recently collaborated with Octavio Logo and other local artists on a mural at Railyard Park in downtown Rogers, Arkansas. The artwork is on one of three painted towers overlooking the park and features a covered area for events, a stage, a farmers market, water features, play areas, and orchards. They also recently completed a multidimensional sculpture titled “Arkansas Halite, Quartz, Bauxite” for the Greg Smith River Trail in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
This Outdoor Curation is on display and open to public Tuesday – Thursday through March 18th.

The Swap at the Medium is a community event aiming to reduce barriers to artistic expression in Northwest Arkansas. Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to donate gently used supplies and equipment to the Swap, taking whatever they may want or need. There will be shared work spaces to tinker with your new-to-you materials and see if they are a good fit. In addition to the swap, there will be laid-back artist talks and demonstrations to keep the inspiration flowing. Come meet and learn from other area artists, experiment with new artforms, and expand your creative toolbelt.
The Swap at The Medium is a part of the Creative Exchange Fund program series supported by the Tyson Family Foundation. Entry to the event is free with ticket upgrades available.

Bulgarian pianist Miroslava Panayotova will perform a solo piano recital, which includes pieces from various style periods. They will be presented under the theme “A Tapestry of Sorrows and Passions”. Each composition on the program will be somehow related to either one or both “threads” of our life’s tapestry. Imbued with sorrow, compositions by Astor Piazzolla, William Bolcom, and Jean-Philippe Rameau will be performed along with some of the most passionately sounding lyrical and dramatic piano works by Frédéric Chopin and Sergey Prokofiev, concluding with “Passion” by Pancho Vladigerov.
“Opus” by Princeaus would be an audio-visual performance experience to provide contextual depth to the lyrics behind my music. A story telling evening, where people could hear exactly why I felt each song should be written. An ASL interpreter will present for the duration of Princeaus’ set. Inspired by “Pictures in an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky, this’ll be opportunity to depict the reality behind the music. The good, the bad and the grizzly. A unique backdrop will work into each tracks’ narrative. “Opus” by Princeaus will be an intersectional and accessible community building experience.

Jay Roff Garcia’s “Revolca’o” is an audio-visual performance piece that explores themes of migration, belonging, and translation through costume, projection design, and musical performance. “Revolca’o” or Recolvado means “to roll or flip over”; It can mean vanquishing an opponent, throwing yourself upon and over a surface, or an object or thing that has been tumbled and flipped. Part research project and part exploration of relational aesthetics, this performance will express personal narratives through an abstract theatrical lens.
Moonsong will be performing a new set, soaked in psychedelia and featuring never before heard music, as well as new arrangements on old material. For the first time, Moonsong will collaborate with a local visual artist to help create visible stimuli in to enhance our live performance and further immerse the audience.
