Join us for another presentation from the Northwest Arkansas Audio Theater.
The Northwest Arkansas Audio Theater returns to the Fayetteville Public Library with an interactive presentation that features three stories, two languages, and help from the audience in making sound effects and music. Two of the tales are adapted from children’s books in English and one is a legend from Oaxaca in Mexico. All are told in both English and Spanish to include everyone who speaks either language – or both. We listen forward to hearing you there!
NWAAT presents theatrical productions in the style of radio theater as performed during the 1940s, complete with actors, music and sound effects. Their shows are family-friendly presentations that celebrate a bygone style of storytelling.

Music begins 6:00PM
“I’m from where I woke up this morning. I write the songs that come to mind and struggle with the ones that don’t. I find humor in misconceptions and solace in laughter, love in the street and fire in the eyes of the marginalized. I prefer facts over alternate facts. I’m here to shoot you straight, although sometimes I fire from the hip.
I was born a Cajun in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the end of the 1980s. When I was a boy, I was naturalized by the Natural State, then became a man. I plan to die in Arkansas. I dream of the raven riding thermals along the cliffs of the Ouachita. I’m blessed by the monks of Subiaco and silent with it’s hills. Sometimes my boots are tugged by the Calcasieu mud. A cold beer goes further than you think; “don’t give me two unless you’ve got 12 more” my buddy always says. I used to ride the levee at night and shoot at the moon. I used to run with the boys in Logan County, that’s also in Arkansas. I used to hold my breath in church until I saw stars just to see if Jesus would come down off that cross and save me. I used to hide from my brother, now I just hide from the cops. The sound of a dog drinking water is my favorite sound. I’ve never written all the songs I wish I had, but I’ve got 3 albums you can find on me or the internet. I used to be in a band called Keyless Gentry…we did one show. I spent all my 20s sweating on guitars, I hope to do it all my 30s. I spend most of my time behind a wheel, getting to you.
Growing up, my mom played all her country tapes in our ’89 econoline. I love those songs almost as much as our memories.
It was my mother
Who first took me to the country
I’m indebted to her
Not only in Love
But also in Time
Say no to fascism” – Dylan

Event Details
“From Blue to Red” is a fascinating look at how Arkansas went from being one of the country’s most solidly Democratic states to one of its most ardently Republican in just a few years.
On the morning of Election Day 2010, Democrats occupied three of the four Arkansas seats in the US House of Representatives, both US Senate seats, all state constitutional offices, and decisive majorities in both chambers of the Arkansas General Assembly. By the time votes were counted that evening, it was clear that the balance of power had shifted. Within five years, Arkansas Republicans would hold all six US congressional positions and every state constitutional seat and claim growing supermajorities in both state chambers. Since then, Republicans have enjoyed robust electoral success in Arkansas—formerly the last remaining state of the “Solid South” held by Democrats.
From Blue to Red: The Rise of the GOP in Arkansas provides a rigorous yet accessible study of this partisan shift, tracking changes in voter preference at the top of the ticket in the 1960s, generational replacement in Arkansas’ political power structure in the 1990s, and the emergence of a more nationalized and polarized electorate in the 2000s, among other developments.

Get ready to get into Arkansas roots all season long with Mount Sequoyah’s spring Music on the Mountain Series! This longtime vibrant collection of concerts is FREE in 2024 thanks to the support of an Arkansas Heritage Grant. Any donations will go to support Mount Sequoyah’s continued community programing. This season features a stellar lineup of talented Arkansas musicians! Mark your calendars and grab your blankets because the music starts flowing on March 9th and lasts until the sun sets on May 18th! Experience a diverse musical tapestry exploring Ozark and Americana roots. This year’s Music on the Mountain concerts will open with local emerging artists as a part of an ongoing effort to connect young performers to professional musicians for hands-on guidance.
These concerts will be outdoors at our scenic Vesper Point. Seating will be provided but feel free to bring blankets and or chairs of your own. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will move across campus, into Clapp Auditorium. This will be communicated to ticket holders via email as well as on our social pages.
Please, no outside food or drink. We will have drinks available and this year, you can add a large pizza to your ticket!
Music begins 6:00PM

Instructed by Jane V. Blunschi
Classes will be Sunday, May 19th AND 26th
In this 2-day generative class and workshop, we will read and discuss contemporary poetry and prose to craft our own personal narrative pieces focused on our relationship to, and with, queerness that which we think of as “spiritual.”
It is often in life’s most exquisitely strange and stickiest times that we find ourselves most in tune with and reliant upon the energy that animates us, in all of it’s inexplicable and ineffable glory (if you can call it that lolsoooooob).
We will experiment with episodic narrative and the lyric biography to explore memories and life experiences from a fresh perspective, and work with themes like mystery, joy, grief, style, and identity through the lens of queerness to shift our focus to the moments in our lives when the subtle power of spirit has felt most present.
Classes will be Sunday, May 19th AND 26th from 3 -6 PM in Parker Hall at Mount Sequoyah Center.

Two small-town paramedics are the first to arrive at a macabre scene. Since the cops got a flat, and there’s no help to render, all they can do is wait—until they realize every school bus in the county is about to drive right by. When the local star reporter (and the senior paramedic’s ex-wife) arrives to film the whole fiasco, things go from bad to ridiculous. A genre-bending dark comedy about just trying to do the right thing.
