announce the return of Artosphere: Arkansas’ Arts Nature Festival May 2-23,
with events and performances at locations across Northwest
Arkansas.  

Artosphere celebrates art, music and nature with exciting performances, activities and events for the whole family.

Each year, Artosphere spotlights artists and performers from around the world who are inspired by nature and provides a creative framework for the community to discuss issues of sustainability and environmental awareness. 

The multi-week festival features a mix of free and low-cost events, including outdoor performances, large orchestral concerts and several chamber music performances in special spaces throughout

our region. Several Artosphere favorites are back this year including Trail Mix, art workshops with Shannon Green and performances by the signature Artosphere Festival Orchestra in their finale season.  

New this year, Taking Flight: Restorative Mindfulness String Quartet & Bird Watching emphasizes meaningful observation, beginning with guided bird watching provided by NWA Land Trust.

Afterward, musicians Miho Sakon, Andrew Chu, Grace Clark and Mickael Puryear will perform Haydn’s String quartet in C major Opus 33 No. 3 “The Bird” on the beautiful Wilson Springs Preserve Trail. You have two chances to experience this one-of-a-kind event on Saturday, May 4 at 10 am and 5 pm.

With 20 No. 1 hits stretching back to 1991, two GRAMMY awards, dozens of ACM and CMA honors and a discography counting more album sales than any duo in history – regardless of genre – Brooks & Dunn’s influence on today’s country has never been in question. Hits like “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “My Maria” and “Believe” have propelled the duo to more than 30 million albums sold, with the New York Times heralding “together they helped drive the power-country era of the early-to-mid 1990s and continued to benefit from the sea change in the genre they helped initiate right through their most recent albums.” Their original “Merle Haggard meets The Rolling Stones” vibe made them progressive stars in their own right. The duo’s recently released collaboration project REBOOT debuted at No. One on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The impressive feat marks the first time the duo has topped the album charts since 2009 while simultaneously earning the duo their 10th Billboard 200 Top 10 album, the most of any country duo or group in the chart’s history.  In 2019 the duo was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category.

Get ready to get into Arkansas roots all season long with Mount Sequoyah’s spring Music on the Mountain Series! This longtime vibrant collection of concerts is FREE in 2024 thanks to the support of an Arkansas Heritage Grant. Any donations will go to support Mount Sequoyah’s continued community programing. This season features a stellar lineup of talented Arkansas musicians! Mark your calendars and grab your blankets because the music starts flowing on March 9th and lasts until the sun sets on May 18th! Experience a diverse musical tapestry exploring Ozark and Americana roots. This year’s Music on the Mountain concerts will open with local emerging artists as a part of an ongoing effort to connect young performers to professional musicians for hands-on guidance.

These concerts will be outdoors at our scenic Vesper Point. Seating will be provided but feel free to bring blankets and or chairs of your own. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will move across campus, into Clapp Auditorium. This will be communicated to ticket holders via email as well as on our social pages.
Please, no outside food or drink. We will have drinks available and this year, you can add a large pizza to your ticket!

“I’m from where I woke up this morning. I write the songs that come to mind and struggle with the ones that don’t. I find humor in misconceptions and solace in laughter, love in the street and fire in the eyes of the marginalized. I prefer facts over alternate facts. I’m here to shoot you straight, although sometimes I fire from the hip.

I was born a Cajun in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the end of the 1980s. When I was a boy, I was naturalized by the Natural State, then became a man. I plan to die in Arkansas. I dream of the raven riding thermals along the cliffs of the Ouachita. I’m blessed by the monks of Subiaco and silent with it’s hills. Sometimes my boots are tugged by the Calcasieu mud. A cold beer goes further than you think; “don’t give me two unless you’ve got 12 more” my buddy always says. I used to ride the levee at night and shoot at the moon. I used to run with the boys in Logan County, that’s also in Arkansas. I used to hold my breath in church until I saw stars just to see if Jesus would come down off that cross and save me. I used to hide from my brother, now I just hide from the cops. The sound of a dog drinking water is my favorite sound. I’ve never written all the songs I wish I had, but I’ve got 3 albums you can find on me or the internet. I used to be in a band called Keyless Gentry…we did one show. I spent all my 20s sweating on guitars, I hope to do it all my 30s. I spend most of my time behind a wheel, getting to you.

Growing up, my mom played all her country tapes in our ’89 econoline. I love those songs almost as much as our memories.

2 pm, Sunday, May 12 at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art | We’re thrilled to host autoharp angelic vocalist Stephanie Smittle to kick off this year’s series in the galleries of Crystal Bridges that will take place the 2nd Sunday of each month from May through October! Smittle’s self-titled debut solo album is a collection of ten songs for voice and electric autoharp, which the Arkansas Democrat Gazette called “stunning” and “incandescent … a skilled and observant lyricist unafraid to express vulnerability and wonder and rage.” A native of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Smittle’s history of engagements includes howling in front of roaring amplifiers as a member of southern sludge rock group Iron Tongue, taking the stage as a guest vocalist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, singing ancient chant as a cantor in a 200-year-old Episcopal church, and slinking around the set in an avant-garde Kurt Weill opera. {{ FREE open to the public }}

Each year, Artosphere spotlights artists and performers from around the world who are inspired by nature and provides a creative framework for the community to discuss issues of sustainability and environmental awareness. 

The multi-week festival features a mix of free and low-cost events, including outdoor performances, large orchestral concerts and several chamber music performances in special spaces throughout

our region. Several Artosphere favorites are back this year including Trail Mix, art workshops with Shannon Green and performances by the signature Artosphere Festival Orchestra in their finale season.  

New this year, Taking Flight: Restorative Mindfulness String Quartet & Bird Watching emphasizes meaningful observation, beginning with guided bird watching provided by NWA Land Trust.

Afterward, musicians Miho Sakon, Andrew Chu, Grace Clark and Mickael Puryear will perform Haydn’s String quartet in C major Opus 33 No. 3 “The Bird” on the beautiful Wilson Springs Preserve Trail. You have two chances to experience this one-of-a-kind event on Saturday, May 4 at 10 am and 5 pm.  

Tunes on the Trail returns, bringing classical music outdoors! Throughout May when you enjoy the trails at Lake Fayetteville, Mount Kessler, Mount Sequoyah, Cato Springs, Frisco Trail &

The Lower Ramble, Wilson Springs Preserve and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, enjoy a curated playlist featuring some of the Artosphere Festival Orchestra’s most beloved performances from the past 11 seasons.
