Join us for live music in the gallery! Free, tips for musicians are encouraged.
Woven is a harmony driven, vocal ensemble consisting of singer-songwriters Regina Caeli, Jessica Hawk, and Talina Madonna, who have been singing together in various configurations since 2012. Born out of mutual love for singing and weaving together their individual voices into a space of ritual and sacred song, their heaven meets earth soul-folk sound is set to a colorful tapestry of poetry, prayers, and earth magic. Inspired by American Roots music, singing in choir, Gospel and Indigenous folk wisdom, Woven sings songs to the soul with an authentic belief in the power of harmony to bring people together and heal the world.

You bring the talent, the skill, and the passion, and Ra-Ve provides everything else—the venue, the promotion, the support and encouragement, and the technology. But no matter where you are in your musical journey, you have a home at Sapthaswara—all levels are welcome! We love to hear your personal interpretations of classical traditions, but we also embrace new music based on classical and folk forms (not fusion or Bollywood; the mission of RVCF is to promote traditional Indian performing arts).

Celebrating their 15th year as “a sonically daring ensemble who specializes in performing new works with charisma and integrity” (BBC Music Magazine), Akropolis has “taken the chamber music world by storm” (Fanfare). As the first reed quintet to twice grace the Billboard Charts (2021, 2022), the untamed band of 5 reed players and entrepreneurs are united by a shared passion: to make music that sparks joy and wonder.
Winner of 7 national chamber music prizes including the 2014 Fischoff Gold Medal, Akropolis performs “works that brilliantly exploit their unique instrumentation” (Gramophone). Remaining the same 5 members since their founding in 2009, Akropolis delivers 120 concerts and educational events worldwide each year and has premiered and commissioned over 130 works by living artists and composers.

ABOUT:
In her debut theatrical production, Ashli St. Armant presents NORTH, a powerful new musical about a teenage boy and his mother who escape slavery in the deep south through the Underground Railroad. NORTH is a moving story that explores the multi-faceted reality of Black life during the antebellum period and which aims to bring out the full range of experiences of freedom seekers. While acknowledging the realities of slavery, the narrative explores themes of optimism, bravery, playfulness, wonder, suspense and mystery with original musical compositions steeped in jazz and other historically Black music genres.

Art Basel is about to begin and Mariana, the director of a swanky modern art gallery, has a problem: her showroom is an active crime scene. Part caper comedy and part telenovela, “Laughs in Spanish” shows how far Mariana will go to save the show—even if it means accepting help from her mother, a larger-than-life film-and-television star who always steals the spotlight.
In praise of “Laughs in Spanish”, the Houston Chronicle hailed it as “a playfully clever and often hilarious ensemble piece,” while OnStage Colorado described it as a “mother-daughter comedy with plenty of laughs and a healthy dash of Latin spice.”
“The play’s themes resonate with me deeply—themes of women in the arts, mothers in the arts, and, ultimately, the sacrifices we make for our loved ones, so they have a capacity for joy that allows them to laugh with their whole heart, unedited,” notes Director Rebecca Rivas. Rivas is TheatreSquared’s Senior Artistic Associate and Program Director for the LatinX Theatre Project; her directorial work at T2 include “American Mariachi” and “Native Gardens.”
With “Laughs”, T2 is also celebrating a remarkable new partnership with Stages Houston, the near-50-year-old theater whose mission matches that of TheatreSquared.
The show’s acting company includes Amanda Martinez, Sarah Sachi, Ricardo Pérez Dávila, Tonie Knight, and Annie Wild.
The creative team includes Scenic Designer Tanya Orellana, Costume Designer David Arevalo, Lighting Designer Javier Moreno, Sound Designer Cricket Myers, and Stage Manager Emely Zepeda.
“We’re excited to present a production that we think wonderfully mirrors the vibrancy of spring,” says T2 Executive Director Shannon A. Jones. “This affecting, laughter-filled play is a celebration of life and joy that we hope touches your hearts just as it has ours.”
Tickets
Performances of “Laughs in Spanish” are scheduled Tues-Sat at 7:30pm, and Sat and Sun at 2pm at TheatreSquared’s Spring Theatre on 477 W. Spring Street in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas. Tickets range from $43-$68. All fees are included, with no additional charges at checkout.
Subscription packages for TheatreSquared include full six-play packages starting at $180, with four play flex packages starting at $106. Benefits for season ticket holders include savings of up to 20% on every show, free unlimited exchanges, discounted reserved parking, and same-day discounts on T2 merchandise and in The Commons Bar/Café.
Through T2’s Lights Up! For Access program, supported by the Walmart Foundation, SNAP benefit recipients can purchase $1 tickets, while students and patrons under the age of 30 can purchase $15 tickets. Fully subsidized, free tickets are also available for clients of a number of local community service organizations. For more information, visit theatre2.org/lights-up.

Walton Arts Center will host the debut performance of the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society’s Jazz eighth annual All-Stars Youth Ensemble.
The program for high school musicians culminates with a masterclass with internationally recognized touring jazz artist, Aubrey Logan, and a public performance at on Monday, April 29, at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $15.
Students selected from 11 regional high schools have been rehearsing weekly, studying jazz techniques under the tutelage of professional working musicians and high school band instructors.
The All-Star program was created to inspire the region’s young musicians to experience the joys of America’s original music, jazz. Additionally, the curriculum serves to enhance the programs that are offered in our schools and provide peer-on-peer collaborations, jam sessions, concert performances and career opportunities in music.
“This is a unique opportunity for aspiring jazz musicians,” says Robert Ginsburg, artistic director of NAJS. “By studying with professional jazz artists, students can both grow musically and learn professional skills. Their annual performance at Walton Arts Center has been a highlight for jazz lovers, and a chance for concertgoers to witness the next generation of jazz musicians.”
NAJS funds the Jazz All-Stars program in part through individual contributions to the NWA Jazz Education Fund. Interested individuals can also visit digjazz.com/youth-jazz/ to learn more about the program and donate.
Support for the Jazz All-Stars project has been provided by the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society, Thaden School and Walton Arts Center.
Purchase tickets at waltonartscenter.org, by calling 479.443.5600 10 am until 5 pm on weekdays or in person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office 10 am until 2 pm on weekdays.

Hear the stories behind handwoven coverlets of the Arkansas Ozarks included in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History collection. See examples of works and bring your own coverlets to show and share!
Co-authors Laura Redford and Marty Benson began studying and documenting the handwoven coverlets in the collection of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History and found some fascinating stories of the weavers, their families and the times they lived in. Some of the coverlets were brought with the families when they settled the Arkansas Ozarks and some were woven here. Most date from the early 1800s through the post-Civil War time period. Their book, Ozark Coverlets: The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History Collection, tells their stories.
The Northwest Arkansas Handweavers Guild (NWAHG), founded in 1949 in West Fork, is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024. As a part of its celebration, the guild will have an exhibit of textile art on display at the library from May 1 – July 31 in the Lucky Day Lobby on level 2. Guild members will also have weaving demonstrations on June 11 and July 11.
Laura began her weaving adventures some 40 years ago and over the years has tried many different aspects of the art. She has taught both beginning weaving and more advanced weaving classes for 30 of those years. For the last several years, she has concentrated her efforts on the historical aspects of the weavers and their cloth. Laura will have a few items on display and attendees are invited to bring their own coverlets for a show and share after the presentation!
This program is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Hairspray is the story of 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world? Featuring the beloved score of hit songs including “Welcome to the ’60s,” “Good Morning Baltimore,” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat,” Hairspray is “fresh, winning and deliriously tuneful!” (The New York Times).
This new touring production reunites Broadway’s award-winning creative team, led by director Jack O’Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, to bring Hairspray to a new generation of theater audiences.
“It’s a brand-new world we find ourselves in today, and Hairspray is even more relevant than 20 years ago when it first burst onto the scene. With a whole new generation of wildly talented kids across the board, we cannot wait to raise the various roofs once more with dance, joy, music and that glorious, famous, energy-packed score!” O’Brien said.
Hairspray premiered at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theater in June 2002. The show was a smash hit when it transferred to Broadway, winning eight 2003 Tony Awards including best musical, and became the longest-running musical to play the Neil Simon Theater, running 2,642 performances from July 18, 2002, until January 4, 2009. It is the 22nd longest-running show in Broadway history.

Subscription packages and single tickets can be reserved by calling TheatreSquared at (479) 777-7477 or by visiting theatre2.org/subscribe.

Winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this deliciously funny send-up of Shakespeare’s Hamlet is set to take Broadway by storm in 2023 following a sold-out run at The Public Theater. When the ghost of Juicy’s father demands that Juicy avenge his murder, fatal intent doesn’t come easy to this sensitive, self-aware, young Black man in search of his own happiness and liberation. From an uproarious Southern family cookout emerges a compelling examination of love and loss, pain and joy, revenge and karaoke.

Event Details
For 40 years, this Canadian musical legend has been capturing in song the essence of human experience – while fiercely striving to make it better. One of Canada’s finest artists, Bruce Cockburn has enjoyed an illustrious career shaped by politics, spirituality, and musical diversity. His remarkable journey has seen him embrace folk, jazz, rock, and worldbeat styles while travelling to such far-flung places as Guatemala, Mali, Mozambique, and Nepal, and writing memorable songs about his ever-expanding world of wonders. “My job,” he explains, “is to try and trap the spirit of things in the scratches of pen on paper and the pulling of notes out of metal.”
That scratching and pulling has earned Cockburn high praise as an exceptional songwriter and a revered guitarist. His songs of romance, protest, and spiritual discovery are among the best to have emerged from Canada over the last 40 years. His guitar playing, both acoustic and electric, has placed him in the company of the world’s top instrumentalists. And he remains deeply respected for his activism on issues from native rights and land mines to the environment and Third World debt, working for organizations such as Oxfam, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and Friends of the Ear
Throughout his career, Cockburn has deftly captured the joy, pain, fear, and faith of human experience in song. Whether singing about retreating to the country or going up against chaos, tackling imperialist lies or embracing ecclesiastical truths, he has always expressed a tough yet hopeful stance: to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight. “We can’t settle for things as they are,” he once warned. “If you don’t tackle the problems, they’re going to get worse.”
For his many achievements, the Ottawa-born artist has been honored with 13 Juno Awards, an induction into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, as well as the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada. But he never rests on his laurels. “I’d rather think about what I’m going to do next,” says Cockburn. “My models for graceful aging are guys like John Lee Hooker and Mississippi John Hurt, who never stop working till they drop, as I fully expect to be doing, and just getting better as musicians and as human beings.”
His commitment to growth has made Bruce Cockburn both an exemplary citizen and a legendary artist whose prized songbook will be celebrated for many years to come.

Music begins 6:00PM
“I’m from where I woke up this morning. I write the songs that come to mind and struggle with the ones that don’t. I find humor in misconceptions and solace in laughter, love in the street and fire in the eyes of the marginalized. I prefer facts over alternate facts. I’m here to shoot you straight, although sometimes I fire from the hip.
I was born a Cajun in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the end of the 1980s. When I was a boy, I was naturalized by the Natural State, then became a man. I plan to die in Arkansas. I dream of the raven riding thermals along the cliffs of the Ouachita. I’m blessed by the monks of Subiaco and silent with it’s hills. Sometimes my boots are tugged by the Calcasieu mud. A cold beer goes further than you think; “don’t give me two unless you’ve got 12 more” my buddy always says. I used to ride the levee at night and shoot at the moon. I used to run with the boys in Logan County, that’s also in Arkansas. I used to hold my breath in church until I saw stars just to see if Jesus would come down off that cross and save me. I used to hide from my brother, now I just hide from the cops. The sound of a dog drinking water is my favorite sound. I’ve never written all the songs I wish I had, but I’ve got 3 albums you can find on me or the internet. I used to be in a band called Keyless Gentry…we did one show. I spent all my 20s sweating on guitars, I hope to do it all my 30s. I spend most of my time behind a wheel, getting to you.
Growing up, my mom played all her country tapes in our ’89 econoline. I love those songs almost as much as our memories.
It was my mother
Who first took me to the country
I’m indebted to her
Not only in Love
But also in Time
Say no to fascism” – Dylan

Winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this deliciously funny send-up of Shakespeare’s Hamlet is set to take Broadway by storm in 2023 following a sold-out run at The Public Theater. When the ghost of Juicy’s father demands that Juicy avenge his murder, fatal intent doesn’t come easy to this sensitive, self-aware, young Black man in search of his own happiness and liberation. From an uproarious Southern family cookout emerges a compelling examination of love and loss, pain and joy, revenge and karaoke.

Two small-town paramedics are the first to arrive at a macabre scene. Since the cops got a flat, and there’s no help to render, all they can do is wait—until they realize every school bus in the county is about to drive right by. When the local star reporter (and the senior paramedic’s ex-wife) arrives to film the whole fiasco, things go from bad to ridiculous. A genre-bending dark comedy about just trying to do the right thing.

Lorraine Hansberry’s timeless masterpiece unfolds on Chicago’s South Side, delving into the divergent dreams and conflicts within the Younger family across three generations. The play paints a vivid portrait of their struggle to retain dignity amidst a harsh and ever-changing world. With poignant depth, Hansberry’s work continues to resonate as a searing testament of hope and inspiration.
“Arguably as well known today as it was epochal when it debuted in 1959…and like all great works, it has proved itself incessantly timely.” — The New York Times
