Sgraffito (meaning “to scratch” in Italian) is a decorating technique that is produced by scratching or carving through clay, underglazes, or slips.
In this workshop, we will explore this ancient form of decoration by building a slab plate and use sgraffito techniques to decorate them.
The workshop instructor will lead students through slab building, followed by demonstrations of sgraffito techniques.
